Summer Camp Description & Registration Forms

Parent/ Guardians, 
Welcome and thank you for visiting with us here at Good Sports - USA.  We're excited that both you and your youth are interested in participating in our Good Sports - USA Reality Store Summer Excursion Camp. 

Below you'll find a detailed description of our camp activities.  As you are aware our camp is limited to 30 youth so be certain to get your application in as soon as possible.

In addition as stated on our camp flyers, we'll contact the first 30 registered youth and their parents by email on Thursday June 30, 2022, then again on Friday July 1, 2022 when we'll notify parents/ guardians of the location of our camp. 

Day 1 of the camp, July 13, 2022, 7:30 am - 6:00 pm Participating youth under supervision of Good Sports - USA staff and volunteers sign in, join warm-up and stretching exercises followed by continental-style breakfast while hearing about the day’s agenda. Next, participating youth transition into our engaging on-your-feet Reality Store exercise of writing, reading, and financial literacy as each participating youth is randomly assigned to a career and required to purchase goods/ services for their household while maintaining a balanced budget. Following lunch and hydration, the second half of the day involves participating youth breaking out across four rotating discussion groups where they’ll focus on discussions involving social/ professional values, mental/ physical wellbeing, understanding the educational, vocational, and entrepreneurial processes, and navigating the employment process (to include job searching techniques, mock interviews, etc.) and closing the day with a healthy snack/ drink, feedback, and sign out of camp for the day.

Day 2 of the camp, July 14, 2022, 7:30 am - 6:00 pm Participating youth under supervision of Good Sports - USA staff and volunteers sign in, join warm-up and stretching exercises followed by continental-style breakfast while hearing about the day’s agenda. Next, participating youth will take part in a rotating roster of social service agencies and discuss the roles and types of services each agency provides in our community. Following lunch and hydration, the second part of the day will involve participating youth boarding vans where they’ll take part in an excursion to visit with local businesses and complete the day by taking part in a community service activity as a group. Upon completion of their community service activity, participating youth will board their vans and following head count, each will be provided healthy snack/ drink. Upon return to the Good Sports – USA camp headquarters, participating youth will be asked to provide feedback regarding their experience and sign out of camp for the day.

Day 3 of the camp, July 15, 2022, 7:30 am - 6:00 pm Participating youth under supervision of Good Sports - USA staff and volunteers sign in, join warm-up and stretching exercises followed by continental-style breakfast while hearing about the day’s agenda. Next, participating youth will board a chartered bus where they’ll take part in an out-of-town day excursion to a designated entertainment venue. Following a stop for lunch and hydration, participating youth will spend the afternoon exploring and enjoying the company of their peers and the designated entertainment venue. Upon completion of their afternoon of entertainment, participating youth will board their charter and following head count, each will be provided healthy snack/ drink. Upon arrival back in Tallahassee at our Good Sports – USA camp headquarters, participating youth come together one last time for our awards ceremony and to close out camp.
