VOLUNTEER, MENTOR or  CHAPERONE

Your donation supports at-risk youth from low-income and rural sectors of our community, often lacking in volunteers, mentors, chaperones, and structured programming.

As a volunteer, mentor, or chaperone, your support will help to guide and develop participating at-risk youth, at your availability, in activities ranging from tutoring after school, mentoring social and employ-ability skills, facilitating Outreach Programs (reality store, career dash, etc.),  chaperoning youth on-site at temporary jobs,  during various explorations to businesses, non-profits and events in our community, as well as, out of town excursions.  Please, download and complete the application at your convenience and then send back to the Good Sports - USA email ([email protected]).

Our goal through this campaign is to ensure that  participating at-risk youth have adult supporters, no matter their race, religion, sexual orientation, etc., who are willing to support and guide their participation, growth and development in Good Sports - USA programs and services.

We thank you in advance for your donation and ask permission to post your name on our quarterly "Honorable Donor's List", thanking you for your donation and support.

        OPPORTUNITIES

Your donation supports employment opportunities for at-risk youth from low-income and rural sectors of our community, often lacking the opportunity for shadowing and/ or employment opportunities.

Whether it's raking and bagging leaves, cleaning out trash or recycling bins, cutting your lawn, pressure washing your driveway, or working in retail after school, your job donation helps participating at-risk youth build employ-ability skills, develop good work ethic, purchasing pride, and the chance to  "earn" the value of money.

Our goal through this campaign is to provide every participating youth with an employment experience and the opportunity/ chance to "feel" how work ethic and earning can increase personal self confidence, teamwork and self pride.

In addition, your donated job is keeping at-risk youth engaged and helps to keep our community safe by decreasing juvenile crime and delinquency, making our community a great and safe place to work, live, and to raise a family of devoted citizens.

We thank you in advance for your donation and ask permission to post your name on our quarterly "Honorable Donor's List", thanking you for your donation and support.

TRANSPORTATION

Your donation supports Good Sports - USA transportation.

As a vital asset in the success of any youth mentoring program, transportation provides safe transport, travel, and the opportunity for participating at-risk youth to take part in after-school tutoring, mentoring program services, and explorations to area businesses, non-profits, and faith based organizations.

In addition, occasional chartered transportation is a definite essential during school year and summer breaks when participating at-risk youth take part in exploratory excursions to event and entertainment venues outside of our community.

Our goal through this campaign is to ensure that each participating youth can rest assured that we will be there to pick them up and to deliver them back home, as well as to ensure their transportation for local and out-of-town excursions.

       REALITY STORE

Your donation supports Good Sports - USA Program Outreach where participating at-risk youth in underfunded youth mentoring programs, youth groups, low-income/ rural communities and Title I schools (schools with large concentrations of low-income students) learn financial literacy.

Good Sports - USA, through its partnerships with a host of community partners that include local businesses and banking institutions, identifies and facilitates opportunities for participating at-risk youth from underfunded youth mentoring programs, youth groups, low-income/ rural communities, and Title I schools to take part in this on-campus or on-site financial literacy learning experience.

Upon entering the Good Sports - USA Reality Store, each participating youth is greeted, assigned a career, given a "cash advance" based on their individual salary, and tasked with maintaining a balanced budget through a maze of reality-inspired stations that include Housing, Utilities, Medical/Dental Insurance, Transportation, Grocery, Unexpected Life Expenses, etc.

Our goal through this campaign is to reach as many participating at-risk youth that we can during the school year and to provide them with an experience that will increase their personal financial literacy awareness and build their confidence, appreciation and understanding of what their parents may experience in taking care of them.

        MALES-2-MEN

Your donation supports the Good Sports - USA  Outreach Program specifically designed to support at-risk black males, ages 6 to 18 years of age, who reside in low-income and rural communities with underfunded youth mentoring programs, youth groups and Title I schools (schools with large concentrations of low-income students).

Black males taking part in this program transition through positive programming focused on enhancing their social, educational, political, economic and spiritual/religious awareness.

Utilizing the SEC (Situational Environmental Circumstance) research model, a significant aspect of this program is that participating black male youth are mentored by black men.  It is through this transfer of experiences and expectations of personal and professional growth that participating youth are able to measure their maturity in the program.

Participants will take part in individual and group activities that include personal values development and awareness of black history, as well as issues impacting the black family and the black community to include incarceration, fatherless children/ families, gang/ domestic violence, unemployment, drug abuse, health crisis, and more.

Our goal through this campaign is to restore a "rites of passage" for black males that instills self pride, confidence, discipline, guidance, awareness, and the knowledge necessary for the personal and professional development of each participating youth.

     CAREER DASH

Your donation supports the Good Sports - USA Career Dash Outreach Program where participating at-risk youth, throughout the year in underfunded youth mentoring programs, youth groups, low-income/ rural communities and Title I schools (schools with large concentrations of low-income students), take part in a series of 3- thirty minute workshops.

Good Sports - USA Career Dash workshops include 1) a private closed session speak with a local sports and/ or entertainment celebrity who is tasked with inspiring and promoting compliance, positive personal values, and career planning not focused on the central positions in sports and/ or entertainment.

In the next workshop 2) participating at-risk youth take part in an engaging employability-puzzle exercise, where they are each challenged with identifying a career to pursue then identifying the path they will take to get to that goal (i.e.: high school diploma, college or trade school, resume/ cover letter, interview, network, etc.)

Lastly, in workshop 3) participating at-risk youth take part in a dialogue about the importance of a healthy diet and exercise.  Participants role-play selecting a proper diet and spend the remaining of the workshop in competitive physical play activity demonstrating teamwork, rules compliance, etc.

Our goal through this campaign is to reach as many participating at-risk youth that we can during the school year and to provide them with eye-opening facts and awareness about the limited opportunities of becoming the "central figures" in sports and/ or entertainment, although, in doing so, not to diminish their ambitions but to promote other career options within their specific industry of passion that include ownership, management, director, administration, facilities, agent,  etc., and, most importantly, the understanding that there is a larger world of opportunities available to them.

 TIME-OUT 4 YOUTH

Your donation supports volunteers giving  individual time and attention to participating youth.

Good Sports - USA, through partnerships with a host of food and entertainment vendors, offers discounts in support of our Time-Out 4 Youth Campaign, which permits us to pass these discounts on to participating  volunteers who take the time out from their busy schedules to spend an engaging hour with participating youth in either a dining or entertainment experience.

Good Sports - USA volunteers, all of whom have been screened and passed a level two background check, are tasked with showing participating youth a one-on-one undivided attention experience (dining or entertainment, decided by the participating youth), in which the youth is encouraged to share their thoughts, aspirations and goals respective to their education and career. Your support will make this event a memorable learning experience for participating youth.

Our goal through this campaign is to build trust and confidence, broaden the social experience, and to ensure each participating at-risk youth feels that they are an individual and they are special and that we care about their well being.
