When you Sponsor an At-Risk Youth today - you're giving them access to...

Day 1 of the camp, July 13, 2022, 7:30 am - 6:00 pm Participating youth under supervision of Good Sports - USA staff and volunteers sign in, join warm-up and stretching exercises followed by breakfast during which our breakfast time, guest speaker of the day, delivers an encouraging message.

Next, participating youth transition into our engaging on-your-feet Reality Store exercise of researching job opportunities, participating in mock interviews, writing, reading, and taking part in our Good Sports - USA financial literacy exercise, where they are each randomly assigned to a job/ career.  Participating youth spend the remainder of the morning, purchasing goods/ services for their household while attempting to maintain a balanced budget.

Next, participating youth gather for lunch, during which our lunch time, guest speaker of the day, delivers and encouraging message. Following lunch and hydration, the second half of the day involves participating youth gathering for excursion instructions with Good Sports - USA volunteers. Participating youth along with Good Sports - USA volunteers, will exit the camp site, and walk a short distance to the Star Metro. C.K. Steele Plaza/ Bus Terminal, where they will be greeted by a Star Metro training staff.

Star Metro training staff will provide participating youth with a brief history of Star Metro, and Tallahassee's very own, Civil Rights Icon, C.K. Steele, for whom the Bus Plaza is named after. Star Metro staff, will inform participating youth in how to go about identifying appropriate bus routes, purchasing bus passes and then, direct participating youth to an awaiting Star Metro bus whose destination is the Regal Governor's Square Mall.

Upon arrival at the Regal Governor's Square Mall. participating youth will then take part in our Good Sports - USA job application exercises, which will require each participating youth under the supervision and guidance of our Good Sports - USA volunteers, to approach a retailer counter, inquire whether the retailer is hiring and if so, request an application. Should a paper job application not be available from the retailer (as many are only available online), our Good Sports - USA volunteers will provide participating youth with a general job application in order for participating youth to simulate and practice filling out the job application.

Following the job application exercises, participating youth will take a return Star Metro bus back downtown to the C.K. Steele Plaza/ Bus Terminal and make our way back to the Good Sports - USA camp site location. Upon arrival at camp, participating youth will take a brief refreshment break, then return to take part in sharing feedback of their experience, journaling about their experience and close out camp for the day with a healthy snack, hydration, a team building exercise and instructions for tomorrow's for attending camp.

Day 2 of the camp, July 14, 2022, 7:30 am - 6:00 pm Participating youth under supervision of Good Sports - USA staff and volunteers sign in, join warm-up and stretching exercises followed by breakfast, during which our breakfast time, guest speaker of the day, delivers an encouraging message.

Next, participating youth transition into our Good Sports - USA morning ice - breaker exercise, followed by participating youth being broken up into small groups for participation in a more detailed discussion on the Good Sports - USA Reality Store experience and topics that include social/ professional values, diversity/ inclusion, mental/ physical wellbeing, understanding the educational, vocational, and entrepreneurial processes, understanding and navigating the employment process and social and community services.

Next, participating youth gather for lunch, during which our lunch time, guest speaker of the day, delivers and encouraging message. Following lunch and hydration, the second half of the day involves participating youth gathering for excursion instructions with Good Sports - USA volunteers. Participating Good Sports - youth and volunteers board Astro Travel/ Tours Bus, whose destination is the Floridan Agricultural & Mechanical University's (FAMU) Viticulture Center.

Upon arrival at the FAMU Viticulture Center, participating Good Sports - USA youth are guided into the conference room area where the Viticulture Center Director and staff will introduce themselves.  Participating youth will be provided instructions about planned activities that include an indoor video presentation, a tour of the science lab/ equipment, participating youth taking part in lab experiments focused extracting DNA from fruit and an outdoors tour of the vineyard grounds.

Following their tour of the vineyard grounds, participating youth will board Astro Travel/ Tours Bus for the return trip back to the Good Sports - USA camp site location. Upon arrival at camp, participating youth will take a brief refreshment break, then take part in sharing feedback of their experience, journaling about their experience and close out camp for the day with a healthy snack, hydration, a team building exercise and instructions for tomorrow's for attending camp.

Day 3 of the camp, July 15, 2022, 7:30 am - 6:00 pm Participating youth under supervision of Good Sports - USA staff and volunteers sign in, join warm-up and stretching exercises followed by breakfast, during which our breakfast time, guest speaker of the day, delivers an encouraging.

Next, participating youth will board Astro Travel/ Tours Charter Bus for an out-of-town day excursion destination to either, Saint George Island, Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens/ or Wild Adventures (TBD) destination. During the onset of travel, participating youth will view/ listen to a 30-minute workforce readiness video presentation, followed by a series of entertainment videos.

Next, prior to arriving at the selected educational/ entertainment venue, the Astro Travel/ Tours Chartered Bus will make a brief stop at a predetermined/ pre-ordered carry-out location to retrieve/ provide lunch for participating youth aboard the charter bus, during which time participating youth will enjoy video entertainment.

Upon arrival at their selected educational/ entertainment destination and haven finished with lunch and hydration, participating youth will be provided instructions from the Good Sports - USA Program Director to include what the venue offers, our role, how we visit i.e., staying together, behavior, how we will exit the venue, to include an in the park restroom break and head count before exiting the venue.

Following their educational activities and entertainment experience at the selected venue, participating youth will board Astro Travel/ Tours Bus for the return trip back to the Good Sports - USA camp site location. Upon all participating youth and Good Sports - USA volunteers boarding the Astro Travel/ Tours Bus, a final headcount will be conducted.

Immediately following the final headcount/ confirmation of that all participating youth and volunteers are aboard, participating youth will be provided with a healthy snack, hydration and allowed a cool down period to include onboard entertainment i.e., discussions, movies, etc.

Upon arrival back at camp location, participating youth will take a brief refreshment break, then take part in, journaling about their experience, providing feedback and completing the Good Sports - USA camp close-out survey. It's the final day of camp and the Good Sports – USA close-out ceremony will recognize and thank each participating Good Sports – USA Sponsor, participating youth, and volunteer - Lots of PICS and SMILES!
